Experimenting

Sweater: Muji
Scarf, Tights, & Flats: Target
Skirt: H&M

One of my goals this year was to experiment more in fashion and my own personal style. I feel that in the last year or so, I have entered a style rut and have not been able to kick myself out of it. I just hadn't been inspired by a lot of things, and my days had become so routine that it was not worth dressing up for. Half the time I was at work, and I would be in jeans and a sweatshirt. The only time I really did commit to dressing up more was for school, and even then I was only at school a few days a week. However, this upcoming semester, I do have class every day, so I am determined to use this time to experiment with my style and really get some wear out of the many clothes I own.

That being said, I did have this outfit in mind but when I put it all together, I felt that the proportions were all wrong and it only made me look large in the middle and short. And then I realized that I didn't care, because this was all an experiment, and it just meant I will have to try mix and matching different pieces in another way to make it more flattering in the future. I have been looking to incorporate more scarves into my outfits since I have so many; I have had this particular polka-dotted one since high school. I recently purchased this sweater at Muji in Hong Kong after wanting a cream fisherman's sweater for so long. It was from the men's section and was not super cheap, but I remembered that Madewell charged some exorbitant price for their fisherman's sweater and I had almost purchased it back then. I am so glad I didn't buy the Madewell one; I like the quality of this sweater much better, for it is 100% wool and much thicker than the Madewell. Speaking of Muji, I heard they opened one in San Francisco! I just have to figure out where it is...

  2. One of my NY resolutions was to experiment more in different looks as well. I love that outfit on you--so cozy with the classic sweater yet so pretty with the midi skirt. Pleated maxi/midi skirts are one of my favorites because I feel so feminine in them. You look fantastic! :)
