Woman in Black

Photo taken from Pinterest

I have been digging through the archives of Pinterest and Tumblr for fashion inspiration, and what better person to draw inspiration from than the fabulous Alexa Chung? I decided to recreate the look with my own spin using pieces I had. I'll admit that dressing head to toe in almost all black is a little out of my comfort zone. I do love how black looks on other bloggers, and perhaps it just takes breaking up the monotony with some patterned black pieces, various fabrics, or different shades of black to avoid looking like you're going to a funeral. I had to resist from grabbing any accent piece that would add color, though I did add a white blouse underneath with a peter pan collar. Complete with my three-strap flats, it was a complete Alexa Chung look.

Sweatshirt: Freebie from work
Blouse: Forever 21
Dress: Charlotte Russe
Tights: Nordstrom
Flats: Plenty by Tracy Reese

Sometimes at work we get defective merchandise that can't be fixed or sent back to the manufacturers, so my bosses let us employees keep some of the items. I now own quite a few free sweatshirts, including this black crew neck. Supposedly there's a stain on it, but it's so small that it's barely noticeable. As for this dress, I bought it from Charlotte Russe years and years ago, but I haven't really worn it much. I do like the streamlined professionalism of it, so I haven't been able to let it go.

Definitely will be doing these inspiration posts more often! I already have another person in mind whose outfit I would like to recreate.

In other news, happy Super Bowl Sunday! I'm not a football fan, but it would be nice to see the Niners win just for the pride of San Francisco :)
